Hi Everyone!

I’m Alaina (Lain) Lackey :) If you’ve been here before, you know this bio has evolved alongside me as I’ve explored various careers, creative pursuits, and, most importantly, myself.

As of 2024, I’m excited to share that I’ve landed in Philadelphia and am currently enrolled in UPenn’s MPN program—a fancy way of saying I’m on the path to becoming a nurse! This city and program have expanded my horizons and shown me what I’m truly capable of achieving, in ways I never imagined.

I spent my 20s immersed in hobbies, adventures, and travels that filled my soul. Along the way, I’ve realized that I could live a thousand different lives and find happiness, whether as a baker, working in environmental education, or pursuing something entirely new. Then life handed me the chance to explore nursing, and the moment I stepped into it, I knew—this was my path. They say, “When you know, you know,” often about love, but for me, it perfectly captures how I feel about nursing: a calling that feels deeply and unmistakably right.

Where nursing will take me remains an open question. In some ways, I’m still the same person—filling my days with hobbies (both new and familiar) and wondering about the future. What’s different now is the certainty that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
